Lynda Carter

 Carter was born in Phoenix as the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter. Her mother is from Mexico, is Mexican, Spanish and French. She has a brother, Vincent and a sister named Pamela. Carter aged five made her television debut on Lew King's Talent Show. Carter joined a band named Just Us during high school. The group was comprised of conga, marimba, an acoustic bass and stand-up basses. One member of the group also played guitar. At age 15 Lynda began singing at the local pizza parlor to earn money.  She joined her cousins, The Relatives, when she turned 16. The drummer of the group was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The band first performed in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel & Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she first entered the kitchen. After being named "Most gifted" and deciding to leave the school to pursue an opportunity as a musician. Carter attended an audition in the year 1970, and performed on tour with The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance together was at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk access. Hotel staff and hotel guests had their cars parked in the underground parking garage meant that they performed for their guests. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" performing shows in many of the state's casino lounges in between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter had to quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972 and was able to return to Arizona.
